The Scout is a unisex satchel that is made to look good and last for generations. It has been made with the BIO principal: Buy it Once. Much attention to detail has been placed into this satchel with every piece being chosen and placed to maximise durability and longterm characterisation. The Scout has literally been designed to look better the longer you use it.
Vegetable tanned leathers are at the top end of the leather market. They cost more because they take longer to make using traditional leather tanning methods. Instead of applying poisonous chemicals to "cure" the leather, vegetable tanning methods use tannins found naturally in plants to bond with the proteins in the leather and preserve the skin for generations.
The uniqueness of this bag is summed up in the leather, brass and waxed canvas. All three materials are rarely found together but when done well, they create something special.
The brass is solid and weighty and yours to either keep polished or let it brown off with character to match the other materials.

"This Scout satchel is amazing and the quality is outstanding, with lots of features like the comic fabric interior, brass fittings, and beautiful leather. I bought this as a gift for my son, who is really particular with what he wears etc., and he is so happy with it. I think that the BIO (buy it once) idea is so good, so well done to Jack Stillman for leaving a lighter footprint on the planet. Thanks so much x"

Waxed canvas is a broad weave, heavy cotton canvas that has been soaked in a beeswax solution to make it waterproof yet breathable. It’s not new, it’s been used for centuries by sailors to waterproof their sails. Learn more here
The waxed canvas is quite stiff initially but it will soften over time and eventually develop an aged patina similar to leather. To maintain the water resistance of the bag you can apply Granddad Jack's Sack Wax annually or as required.
